Total Mycotoxin Panel
Mycotoxins are small molecular weight toxic molecules produced by various species of mold, some of which inhabit water-damaged homes or buildings. Mycotoxins are particularly important because they are known to be highly toxic and produced by species such as Stachybotrys (“black mold”), shown to be present in mold-contaminated buildings.
Mold in a house isn’t just a problem for people with allergies or asthma. Water leaks in homes provide an ideal environment for mold growth. There are many mold species; black mold or Stachybotrys chartarum is more dangerous than the most common indoor molds such as Aspergillus and Penicillium. Mold exposure can cause immunosuppression and upper respiratory infections. In addition, long-term mold exposure can cause acute to chronic illnesses.
Mycotoxins are well documented for their toxic effects on the human cell, causing numerous problems in normal cell function and are associated with a wide variety of clinical symptoms and diseases such as:

The RealTime Lab Mycotoxin Panel detects 16 different mycotoxins, including: Trichothecenes (Satratoxin G and H, Isosatratoxin F, Roridin A, E, H, and L2, and Verrucarin A and J.), Ochratoxins (Ochratoxin A), Aflatoxins (Aflatoxin B1, B2, G1, and G2), Gliotoxin (bis (methyl) gliotoxin), and Zearalenone.
Testing is performed using competitive ELISA, a very sensitive and specific method for detection using antibodies prepared against the Mycotoxins. The validation testing has been published in a peer-reviewed journal (2009). In addition, RealTime Labs was granted a U.S. patent for its macrocyclic trichothecene test.
All mycotoxin testing results are displayed in an easy-to-understand numeric format, showing detection levels in ppb as standardized by the FDA, WHO, CDC, and Food Industry for clinical use. Results also indicate if the test was present or not present, or equivocal, along with detection ranges for each.
